What’s it like to live with the Ferrari Roma Spider—not just for a weekend, but as part of daily life?
We spoke with a current owner who’s been putting miles on his Roma Spider in Southern California, using it for everything from commutes to canyon drives. His impressions reveal just how versatile, engaging, and surprisingly usable this front-engine Ferrari truly is.
"It’s elegant, sporty, and easy to drive—Ferrari nailed the formula."
When asked what stood out most upon first seeing the Ferrari Roma Spider, his response was immediate: “It just looks really beautiful—especially the rear. It’s a sleek car and balances elegance with a real sporty feel.”
Driving it top-down brings a new dimension to the experience. “I already loved the coupe, but the Spider just feels special. With California weather, having the roof down and that V8 sound—it’s amazing.”
Despite being seen by many as a grand touring car, the Roma Spider surprised with its handling: “You’d think it’s more of a GT, not like the 296 or other mid-engine cars. But it’s really agile—it turns well, feels light, and handles the curves up in the mountains better than I expected.”
One of the moments that truly captured the Roma Spider’s capability came during a drive up Angeles Crest Highway—Southern California’s iconic canyon route. “It really surprised me in the corners,” he said. “People think it’s just a GT car, but it handled ACH incredibly well. It was one of those drives where I realized—this car is more than just beautiful, it’s genuinely fun to drive.”
When asked if the Roma Spider is a daily or a weekend car, the answer was both. “I actually drive it a few times a week. I've taken it to San Diego and even to Vegas. It’s just easy—no lift needed, no worries about scraping. And it’s got 612 horsepower and revs to 7,500. It feels proper.”
It’s also a car the whole family enjoys. “My wife loves driving it—it’s not intimidating like some of the other Ferraris. And my daughter fits in the back seats, so we all get to enjoy it. Even the tech is great. The central touchscreen is easy to use—Ferrari really thought about everyday functionality.”
Compared to other convertibles, the Roma Spider stands in a class of its own. “It’s not really fair to compare it to something like the 812 GTS—they’re totally different. But for the price, the Roma Spider is probably the best Ferrari you can get right now.”
So, would he recommend it to someone looking for a Ferrari that fits into everyday life? “100%. Especially if it’s your first Ferrari. It’s approachable, easy to live with, and still gives you everything you want from the brand. It’s a truly well-rounded car.”
